劒外忽傳收薊北，
初聞涕淚滿衣裳。
却看妻子愁何在，
漫卷詩書喜欲狂。
白日放歌須縱酒，
青春作伴好還鄉。
即從巴峽穿巫峽，
便下襄陽向洛陽。

In a flash comes the news. Central Plains recovered;
Whereupon tears of joy wet my gown,
I turn to my wife and children, all sorrow gone,
In an ecstasy of delight, I roll up my books.
This day let me sing and drink to my heart's content;
With spring for company I'll return to my native place.
Through the gorges I'll sail,
In no time I'll reach Luoyang,
